I think this looks great. Excellent job on the gradients. It gives the star a lot of depth and I like the way red and black work together.

Ok this looks globally nice, but are you really willing to make a political statement with this logo?

Because showboating a big red star clearly sends a very specific message. Which doesn't mix too well with any idea of marketing/advertising.

Watchout the kerning.

totally agree. especially if it is red and like a symbol appart. If it was with the introduction with some kind of pretty text on the star (like virgin radio) wil transmit a different idea.
