Brief from client
I made my taste design with the initials of my name
Taking into account the comments, Come up with another version
The next step is to vary your line widths a bit. There should be a setting in illustrator for pen pressure simulation, or something like that; can't remember off the top of my head.
Also, your curves appear jagged. Usually this happens when you draw too quickly.
I agree except that i think the lines are jagged because it has been drawn slowly not quickly! definitely need to vary the line widths like you suggested though
Good thought, but my question is why are you trying to get a hand drawn look using only a computer? draw it by hand, then scan it in and clean it up. I don't think you're going to get the look your going for they way you're trying to do this. If you have illustrator, there are tutorials out there on how to do this.
I like that you are trying to do some of the suggestions we gave you! However, I much preferred the original layout (with the capital A crossed with the J)
The suggestion above is a good one too, try drawing with several different pens too- then scan in your favorites!
j.o.y, I tend to disagree with you on an issue of " j " and a capital " A ", because " A " does look disconnected from that awesome " j " with a natural loop. This second version here is a step in a right direction, as Mr. Kill said and I'm with him on that.
I'm not going to use my other three thumbs, as the work in progress, still... I do like your approach here to continue on with one line. Continue to shape, tweak and you will get a cool symbol eventually.

This is on the right track, but still needs work.

Keep at it!
