Personal logo

Brief from client

I'm a student with passion for web development.
I wanted to create logo for my portfolio website.
My artist name is ima brownie it's mix of my name and surname.
I wanted my logo to be just like my name a little bit surrealistic.

Good direction! Couple of changes I personally think would make this logo better

1. Use more of a tech font. Check out the fonts below
https://www.fontspace.com/category/tech

2. Adjust the chocolate dripping to match the actual shapes and angles of a cpu chip like the link below
https://www.vcxc.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/technano_hightech-1024x7...

3. Try to make the edges straight and try adding shadow and highlight like attached

Hope this help

I'm curious as to why you think a logo for an artist should look like a CPU chip? Especially since you're not suggesting, but rather telling them to change it. Same with telling them to use a tech font, shouldn't an artist logo or mark reflect their style and design esthetic?

I totally agree with you, on artist viewpoint he should mark his own style and this logo is very creative.

But I'm giving my critique from a consumer viewpoint. As a consumer, looking at this logo for the first time, I would have thought he was actually selling brownies.

Given he's a web developer that created this unique logo, which means he will be branding his talent for the future (business card, stickers, etc).

My personal critique was given to help for that, so people would know his brand is based more on a tech aspect.

At the end of the day it's just my opinion, and I'm not forcing him/she to do another change.

I think you are on the right track here if the image reflects your design style. More than once I've picked some one to interview based off my first impression from their promotional materials only to be disappointed that their work did not match. That being said I like the simplicity of the logo, however in the proportions you have presented here the logo overwhelms the text. I would suggest trying to balance them better. Nothing wrong with the next either, it's clean, contemporary and timeless, a good combination in my opinion.
