Brief from client
This is a redesign for a salon that is opening a second location. The original logo was designed by the salon owner's brother so they did not want to deviate very much from the original.

Here is the original.
Nice job here Jon! i like what you did! You have improved on the old one tenfolds but have still kept the same sort of elements. Very well done! the only negative i have is that everything looks a little crammed.
I think you did an excellent job revamping this logo, and still keeping the elements they wanted. Nice work. I personally do not feel that it is cramped. I enjoy the symbol as it is integrated with the title font, but is still strong enough to stand on its own! It definitely has a much better balance now.
Whoa! Check out the lower S on her!
...
Also, I like the revision, the original artist will be proud.
I was a little worried about the bust giving a sexist vibe but I love the idea when it came together and it does sort of fall in line with beautifying aspect of a salon and the owner loved so we ran with it. lol
I don't think it is sexist, simply because it is for a salon and she is meant to be pretty.
Side note: Look at how puffy her sleeve is! She is a 1980s bridesmaid! Amazing! :D
Or Cinderella with a puffy sleeve dress. :)
I totally missed the boob. I'm a little disappointed in myself lol
This is really nice, although I'm not sure the subtext this comfortable there, I think it looks too forced.
I like what's going on with the S and the symbol. But the symbol itself, not so much. Mainly because now you have two different Ps, which is very redundant.
I see what you mean and I agree but that was one the elements that was important to the owner so I tried to update it without altering it too much. I was most concerned with getting all of the text outside of the symbol so it could become legible, especially at smaller display sizes.
