Brief from client
This was a redesign that didn't get used. It's basically a father and son in charge of a local chain of dealerships. The son wants something new and dad keep reverting back to the same logo they had. I wanted to get some feedback on this version for the heck of it. I had to keep the brand strip below the logo, as this was to be their parent branding.

This is their original logo. Also, I know I'm going to get dinged for the drop shadow on the "R." This client is really hard to sell if it looks "boring or flat" to them. lol
Daddy is so wrong =)
The old logo looks like the one of an amusement park.
The new one does the job. It's nothing ground breaking, but it works. The "classy/royal" aspect is there.
I'm not a fan of the font for the subtext. I would use a different one which complement the main one. Have you try a bolder font for "Regal"? For this type of client, I'd go for a less thin one.
Also, I would remove all the other logos, it kinda gets in the way and they are not part of your logo anyway.
Thank You. I agree about the logo stack but I had to design with it in mind because that was the specific request. Unfortunately, "daddy" won and they reverted back to... Well, I don't even want to show you what they picked. lol This is the second time in a couple of years that logo development has been brought up. Maybe I'll get another stab at it in the future. They are definitely a tricky customer to please, even with their own ideas.
Wow, that original logo is hideous, or has it just been photocopied 10K times. I agree the new version is a vast improvement, but not much wow factor. A rounded rectangle might have been a better shape, and moving the "R" a little to the right to the perceived center of the shape rather than the actual center.
