Reuse symbol

Brief from client

The recycling symbol is used worldwide, but there’s no emblem for the act of reuse. We challenge you to design a universal reuse symbol.

The idea of the logo is that the action of the reuse stays within a circle, that ultimately looks like a sphere, more like planet Earth, which we try to protect. The green arrows suggest the continuous motion of the products and the outer circle suggests unity of this action. It's a simple and yet dynamic logo, easy to use on any media necessary.

The thought process is great, but I don't see this symbol being understood that way. The recycle symbol works because there is nothing like in use with similar shape and arrows and it implies both the state of being recyclable and recycled...not sure why another symbol is needed. If this were printed in black it would be even less understood. Also, the arrows are technically pointing backwards.

I don't understand the need for this symbol, but this was the contest's plot (check the web address in the brief) As for the colors, I originally posted here an image with single color versions (I'm re posting it below). And technically the arrows point to a circular direction on the diameter of the sphere that is clockwise, there is no back or front, it's supposed to look the same in any angle, I've tried it.

Understood. However the earth rotates in the other direction if your sphere represents north on top. This isn't bad, I just don't see the goal in it which is to represent the term "reuse". The "recycle" symbol didn't happen over night. It took years for the logo and the word to become synonymous and for most of those years the word "recycle" appeared with the symbol.

I like the symbol but totally agree with 2423

I agree also, but this was the contest's requirements: "The recycling symbol is used worldwide, but there’s no emblem for the act of reuse. We challenge you to design a universal reuse symbol."
