Brief from client
This is just something I have been toying with in the event the label comes back full swing. We will want to use a new logo.
The main part of the brief / idea was to have RYR be dominant with some kind of cityscape included. The secondary logo can be added in at times or left out. Mainly after in the event the new icon were to gain brand recognition

the two different weights of the "R" and "Y" are competing heavily. I would revisit that concept alone, and remove the city skyline. Skyline's IMO, are overplayed and tiresome at this point. Different font for "Railyard Recordings" but I would make it something simple
Yes, Once posted and looked at again from a new light I was even thinking the weights altogether may be too beefy.
I see what you are saying between the Rs and Y. I’m thinking thinning the Rs down to the Y size would be best.
btw - Railyard is not a font - it’s hand drawn and digitized nor is RYR a font
Agreed cityscapes are played and cheesy, hopefully I can dissuade them from the idea or find a new spin for it perhaps.
Thanks Mate!
This should be the primary logo. Not a secondary logo.
this right here is a more memorable wordmark.
Wow! ErinsSonicYouth, interesting you called that. That is actually the redesigned logo/ wordmark. As I mentioned before the Railyard is hand drawn and digitized and I’ve toyed s bit with the Recordings font.
Attached is a poor shot of the back of a cd booklet with the logo.
Recordings is different but I feel it works better in the messing I posted than the CD booklet actually.
Thanks for your input. Very helpful.
I like it as an acronym over just the hand lettering, but agree that you need to fix the weight of the Y to match the Rs. Do that and get rid of the cityscape and it would be a solid mark!
I agree with the above comments: the big RYR and the skyline are totally superfluous and cliché and kill the really cool hand made custom font. It's like having a juicy steak buried into a pile of greasy fries ;)
Thanks Guys!
I just took on a new logo project and hopefully the re-branding.
I appreciate your feedback and will make the necessary changes and separations when time permits and repost.
