Brief from client
Logo for a pub here in Jersey UK where i live..
Its a traditional pub by the seaside and was called Seymour Inn but they want to change it to just Seymour. Its called Seymour because out in the sea near to where the pub is is a tower called Seymour tower.
They basically want an overhaul of the whole pub so are going to repaint and decorate it to try to bring it up to date as its look a little tired now.
I didnt want the pub to loose its old traditional feeling too much as i think this is why people enjoy going there so ive tried to keep the logo a little traditional looking.

Cool, just the 'r' looks like an 's', but not big issue. certainly has the feel of tradition, but with a solid, clean look which is fresh :-)
As much as I love signalist, The r connection at the end bugs me. I've avoided using signalist when there's an r like that and I cant alter it.
I like the illy too, but Its a little flat and crisp, I'd try and rough it up a bit, or just look into some options to raise a little more interest in the icon. All good work though!
But I like the r , its just its higher than the rest of letters. I also like the symbol but I would try to simplify it and loose some details as they are too small. Good work! ;)
Thanks for the comments, im not actually sure about the "r" either, i have done a logo before in this font where i changed the "r" so i think i might try that. With regards to the symbol this is going to be produced big on the side of the building so i wanted to put as much detail as i could in so it looks like someone has painted it on the side of the building. :) ill re post a new version later with the "r" changed
I like where this is going, but the symbol needs to be tweaked a lot. There are too many small details and random shapes. It looks too much like it's been traced.
Great font choice.
Heres a mock up with the "r" changed, i think i prefer this new "r" what do you guys think? this is how the sign wil be made for the wall on the pub, the symbol and subtext will be printed on vinyl and stuck to the wall (yes we have a vinyl that can stick to brick and concrete walls :) ) and the Seymour text will be flat cut aluminium letters painted dark brown stood off from the wall. There will be spot lights shinning down on the sign to make the letters cast a shadow. The wall colour hasnt been decided but is most likely to be a light grey
I still like the first "r", but in the end its your choice. :)
I don't think that's what Joe was talking about when he said he didn't like the R connection. I think he was pointing out the ligature between the U and the R.
I really don't like how the R looks now and please, remove that terrible drop shadow thing! =)
haha the shadow was just to show that the letters will be stood off from the wall not flat to them when the sign is made, and i changed the "r" because someone said it looked a bit like an "s" which i could see as well!
That would be the traditional hand written 'r', It does take a whlile to get used to the way they flow, but it is correct in the way it works. The best thing to do is to look at other scripts of a similar style and see how other 'r's work.
Its always sad to see a traditional r being forced to stand like a modern non scripted r :(
