Shark Attack Watersports

Brief from client

A fun loving water sports apparel and equipment company wanted a logo. No brief as such just nothing too "serious".

How would you improve this logo? I like the idea (the shape of the shark), but is there a better way of executing it?

Hmmm...

Well sharks aren't yellow, and as an added bonus 'watersports' can mean sexy urine play. I suggest getting rid of any trace of yellow in this logo.

I'd ditch the outline and the gradient, they really don't add to it..

Finally, I am hesitant... so keep a back up... but if you are making the words into a shark then go all the way. Taper the waist, point down the S mouth, make it fierce. Go all out!

I'm in love with this logo. As for the comment from Waffles...I'm not sure many people would get the sexual urine fetish connection. I didn't think of that at all. I first thought of sun and beach and a bright energetic day. I personally love that the shark shape is subtle and clearly a secondary realization after reading the name. That delay gives me more of an "ah hah" moment to feel proud that I figured out the puzzle or the hidden secret. It makes the logo seem clever and my "ah hah" moment gives me more investment in the brand. All around I think this one is successful as is. Outline and gradient could be fun on certain specific packaging situations, but this will still stand strong as just a one color flat logo.

This is a really nice concept and I like how the words make the shape of a shark. Part of me really wants to see it with teeth, at least two or three on the upper jaw.

The type is ok but the kerning is really bothering me and looks extremely tight. I think creating a little equal space between each letter would help with legibility while still pulling off your idea. The "TT" is messing with my eyes a little because its both very close to each other and detached at the bottom which kind of takes away from your shark shape. Joining it at the bottom to make it more like a fin and separating at the top in terms of kerning could help it look both like a fin and like two T's. Also the outline, while I don't mind it, is probably doing you more hurt than help in this case, only because everything is already so tight together. No outline would be fine, similar to the subtext.

I also will have to agree with waffles in that the colors don't make me think of either water or sports. A nice blue or slate color will do and help with the overall legibility. Also think that you can get away with using a flat color instead of a gradient yellow. My opinion. "Watersports" looks fine but also may do it justice if it was in a blue background as well. Another idea could be making the top half "SHARK" in either a light blue, blue grey, or something and then the "ATTACK" in a light grey or slate color to get some countershading that you see in great whites and other large predatory fish. :)

I also would like to see a version that is more shark, since it's already kind of there. The things waffles mentioned sound like something cool to see!

Hope it helps, overall can't wait for the next revision!

I think it's a nice logo. Although I'll change the color, take the outline out and I don't know why it bothers me that the S at the end of watersports is touching the edges. Of the circle. Also I fill like there is no purpose for that circle around the watersports.
Good job, love to see if you make any updates.
