Synthtex Logo

Brief from client
A colleague of mine is starting his own business, and asked if I would generate a few ideas for him. The business name is Synthtex, and has to do with IT and audio/visual support for government contracting. He gave no specifics on colors or any other requirements.
I felt the relation of the word "synth" and the image of an equalizer had been done to death, so I tried to incorporate an eye-grabbing optical illusion while giving the shapes of an equalizer representation.
The attached image shows the logo on both a black and white background to show its flexibility.
Any thoughts or critiques are welcomed and appreciated!! Thanks guys!

It seems too complex for my liking, but good attempt. Typography is fine, try a new direction with the symbol.
Sorry but this is not working for me.
Globally, it feels very dated. Like a futuristic vision from the 70's type of thing. Without that cool vintage trend that could make it look cool.
I would try to avoid having optical illusions in a logo. It usually makes for a complicated logo (not to be confused with complex) and that's really not what a good logo should be.
Good luck!
I agree with Shawali, optical illusion has no place in logos. Apart from that, the green type looks good, and maybe you should keep the small one in a sans-serif font also. Looking forward to the next version.
