Description of the organization and its target audience
It is a bilingual (French/English) school, for children age 3 to 12, looking for a rebrand.
Words to describe:
Modern, Simple, Young
In "Ecole Eden", now called "Tagali", kids join mixed-age classrooms where they switch between project-based learning models and individualized educational modules.
The student-to-teacher ratio is about 1 to 12.
You can have a look at our website: ecole-eden.ch, we had a logo, which unfortunately only is in French, the word "happy"/"heureuse" and is not appropriate for our school identity.
WE DO NOT WANT A TEXT BASED MESSAGE IN THE LOGO.
But we do like its colors, and message to inspire comfort, progress, technology, innovation, a push to a new educational model
Preferred logo types
An image or shape that is easily recognizable is used to represent your business.
An abstract shape or symbol is used to convey the values of your business.
A character or mascot to represent your business.

You nailed a symbol here - I love it! Now... Ditch a type completely, its a wrong one in style and it doesn't communicate with a symbol. Take a look at your symbol how softly pages are falling down, as a first snow hits a ground... Hmmmm... If you would make " Tagali " in the same manner as your pages - you got yourself an awesome logo and a memorable one for sure. Or put a letter on each page - you have six pages and six letters. I'm not charging any fee, :) Merci beaucoupe!
A bit too rainbow-y, but the symbol relates well with the text. Use a simpler color palate.
Also, watch your kerning. The "T" is too far to the left.
thanks for catching that "T", and I agree about the color palate.
I can see this being done as an option...
Again, Félix, you're not helping anyone by reworking other people's logo. I know you mean well, but trust me, it's counter productive for everybody.
This is not working, mainly because the font is really badly made, the symbol is too simplistic with unmatching colors and I can sense a lack of research and sketching.
But the point I want to make here is this: do not participate in these so-called "contests".
Basically, they ask designers to work for free, promising a "reward" of a few hundred bucks for the lucky "winner". The client has virtually hundreds, if not thousands, designers working for them, for the price of one. The guys organizing that "contest", sites such 99design.com or Logomyway.com are the ones getting paid the big bucks. The designers who don't win get nothing for their work. The worse part is that overall quality of the submitted logos are generally really bad.
This is called spec work and it's the scourge of the design industry, especially for freelancers. Check this out: www.nospec.com/faq
I see your point, Charlie and I'm sorry.
Thanks for your input, and for warning me about the spec work, I was a bit worried about that, and now I know. I guess I won't be needing that Logo after all. :(
...but it doesn't hurt to use their brief as a guideline and submit it here for critique. There are some pretty awesome mentors here.
