Brief from client 

Direct Sales software company wanted to have a word mark type logo, but also something separate that could be used as a graphic element.

Ah... noooooooo! Don't put fade effects in your logo's unless its a handmade execution. This will quite possibly bring up printing issues. Also have you tried a non-gradient color on your text?

Your subtext looks off-place they way it is now and i think you shouldn't have it in italic. In fact it seems like you skewed that your self (hope not) Try to put in a regular type, i think that would look better. Also give your subtext and title some breathing space they're to close to each other.
