Two firms coming together

Brief from client
The client was looking for a logo that would incorporate both established business logos in to one. Both companies are architectural firms.
As mentioned above, the client was looking to have a logo that would reflect both groups of partners. Both companies are architectural firms so I tried to use elements from pre-computer drafting to create a perspective design and only slightly modifying the logos to fit the design. I wanted to keep it simple and clean.

This is just a mess.....
I would suggest scrapping it and starting over
It seems as though the original logos still need some work before being merged into the same shape.
i agree with samuel about working on the original logos and just like josh said, scratch this and start over. looks confusing and you can easily get lost.
I was going to ask you to post the current logos of the merging companies but I have something better. This article is going to save your life.

You are welcome ;)
very good information there.
you need to learn the basic principles of logo.
i can't read it..like what letters and what this companies do?!!!
do you think this is simple and clean? sorry but I don't agree with you...
Well the client liked it so I guess that is all that matters, this is what they requested, there was very little freedom to alter. I found the link helpful but the firms are separate, just under one roof as it were, so merging the two logos into one was not an option, they wanted them separate. I feel the goal behind critiquing something is to offer helpful advice, I found little of it here aside from the link, thanks luenib.
