Update Akita Brand
Brief from client
IT company Akita Systems wanted to update their brand.
The original logo depicts the transfer of data and was beginning to look a bit tired and stuffy.
They wanted a commercial and modern feel that had an aspect of what they do.
I managed to convince them to drop 'systems', which although helped to explain what the company did, the big blue 'IT' kind of spells it out for you now.
It's always tricky designing logos for companies that deal with data (or other intangible products/services), as it can end up looking a bit cheesy. For instance, binary is cool, but looks amateur when applied to a logo. I avoided that well trodden path that leads to nowhere but Cheeseville. Therefore, I used a grey box that is a nod to the servers in their data center. It can also be seen as a microchip, with the text being the different components making the chip.
The jaunty angle is mainly there to make the text work, but it also gives a more interesting composition.
This was done a couple of years ago now and although I want to keep the basic design, I want to tweak the text slightly. It's mainly the spaces between the letters that bother me.
Any font suggestions for a starting point would be appreciated.

Yes yes yes. I love how the square is tilted to match the angles of the "a"
