Brief from client
Logo for a satirical website about human behaviour in the modern world.
First attempt, just trying stuff out initially - I wanted to give the ape a tie but couldn't fit it into the composition. Feedback appreciated.
I Like it a lot. I'd like to see a thicker line weight on the two lines and less grunge effect on the type, or at least the same effect that you've used on the ape, used on on the type.
good!!! I would rethink the point Jon Askill already said about the texture and the weight lines ... just try to find the ones that give you a even more neat logo!!!
I'm not really feeling the different treatments for the font and the ape. Also, it might behave better in term of balance if the ape looked to the left.
Globally, I'm not over the moon about this logo for now. Given what you did recently, you can do much better. But that's the just the beginning of your process, I'm sure you gonna knock this one out of the park!
The only thing I really don't dig about pre-treated typefaces like this one is that they are clearly textured by the letter, and you can tell based on using the same character twice (for example the letter A in URBAN and APE). I don't really have a good reason on why I notice that first with textured bypefaces.. I always add a custom texture to typefaces, just to give it some variety when using the same letter multiple times. I think it gives it more of a custom look, and I'm not restriced on what typefaces I can used based on their texture. Just some food for thought.

Looks tidy though ;)
