Brief from client
My uncle just came to me saying he needed a logo for a friend.
I didn't get much information on the company itself other than that it's a roofing company..

Here are some versions I sent off before this one..
First and foremost, get rid of the gradients and get back to solid colors. Copperplate Gothic is a way outdated and overused font so I would stray away from that. The angles on your roofing are all very inconsistent. I do get the feeling like you're starting straight out in Illustrator without sketching out some concepts. With all that said, If I have to pick one of these I think the bottom right is your best effort so far. The weight of roofing lines is consistent with your main font. The angles are still wonky though. The huge W concept isn't really getting you anywhere at this point. I would recommend doing some research on roofing logos and get back to paper.
Thanks Jon for the feedback! I only went with that same font because of what they sent me.. But I will defiantly stick to the solid colors. I tried way to hard to make it look more commercial.
Always start simple with the colors. Every logo will have to work well in a one color environment. You can embellish later but you don't want to sell your client on a decked out logo if they don't like it in its simplest form.
You're welcome for the feedback and best of luck going forward.
I had a strange thought.
Imagine a logo for a roofing company... that does not have a roof outline in it.
It certainly would be refreshing and stand out.
Roofers use many tools: ladders, special hammers, or even shingles. It doesn't have to be a roof. It really doesn't.
As simple as that is.. I've never thought of that... ahha. I will defiantly consider that in some sketches! Thanks
