MPT 2014
Myanma Posts and Telecommunications, operating under the MPT brand, is the fully state-owned telecommunications company of Myanmar. It held a monopoly on all mobile telecommunications in the country until 2014, when two foreign players, Telenor and Ooredoo, entered the market.
To compete against them effectively, MPT introduced a new modern logo in September of that year, and entered into a long-term strategic partnership with KDDI, one of the three main Japanese telecom companies (the other two being NTT and SoftBank Mobile), and Sumitomo Corporation, a Japanese keiretsu (industrial conglomerate).
MPT unveiled a new logo on 12 September 2014.
