Still needs a bit of work but you're on the right track, no question about that.
Like Cesardesign18, I'm reading Lumpa Lumpa as well.
The typography for kids is spot on.
The colors are great too, it's the distribution that doesn't feel right. What about just making the top green and the bottom purple (or viceversa)? Let the words do their work.
The balloons as an idea are good, I think the execution needs work. I would loose the strings and the gradients, but I would leave the orientation as is.
The balloons are fine, I like them as they add a bit of festivity. Their colors are much improved as well, much brighter. The transparency effect looks alright but it may present problems when reproduced in other ways beyond paper print and web design (screen printing on t-shirts or balloons, for example).
The new text layout works, as does the simplified color palette. The raised/dropped alternating "p" is a nice touch. However, I really enjoyed the swirls from the previous versions. They added distinction and made it more fun. Stick with two basic colors (green and purple) but bring back the swirls in different shades of those colors.
I'm enjoying watching this take shape, I feel you're getting closer to a finished product. Good work so far!
I like this version. You could lower the top of the L and bring the balloons down a bit. If they cross over the U, or go in partially in front or behind the u, that would be okay too!
Alright, so the balloons have to go for sure now that it's been discovered they were taken from a stock image.
I really liked the previous version, though. Sure, the letters look okay here, but they had a lot more personality before. Once you get rid of the balloons I feel you'll need that extra playful touch.
I must say, I'm bit disappointed that someone who's been hanging the critique section for a while, and who proved more than once that he is a more than decent designer, would resolve to such a lazy and many times denounced practice.
Well, the rest of the logo is good, so you can still salvage this by removing the balloons altogether =)
I don't see a problem basing your design on another design as long as it's tweaked, adapted, customized to the design you're working on. EVERYONE does it in different degrees... Granted, the degree of this logo is unacceptable, since it appears this was a "final" revision :) - As an exploration process what you did is totally valid.
The balloons as an idea, work for me, just customize them to fit your design. Balloons can't be THAT hard to design anyhow... right?

I'm reading the same word twice (Lumpa - Lumpa). Maybe it's just me :)
I think that the previous version was better than this.
The balloons are MUCH better though.
Well, you changed the one thing that actually worked (not that it doesn't now) and kept the one that really doesn't.
But I must say, balloons aside, I prefer this version.
#noballons
Overall, I like it. A lot.

Balloons are so difficult to make, too....

so far the best version however i'm not getting the party vibe, think i would change the colors if it was me :) and like cesar i can read lumpa twice.
i guess you need some tweaking and it would looke good :)
