Clothing Logo, "Grove"

Brief from client
Would love some feedback.
The requirements are that the logo be, "casual high-end" with cross over urban appeal.
The label was born on the coast of California and needed nautical appeal.
The logo needs to be embroidered and embossed.
Here is my second attempt - I am not sold on the flags but I am working on it.

Usually you only want to show the year for old brand, furthermore, "2014" is quite small so may not be visible on embroidery. If it's client's requirement, consider to straighten it.
I like where this is going but there are to main problems that hold it back: the flag are indeed pretty bad right now, way too flimsy while they should slicker. Also the font for 2014 looks really amateurish compared to the main one.
