Expleo logo design

Brief from client

Expleo is small business that delivers all kinds of IT services. Expleo wants a "minimalistic" looking logo. Expleo's slogan is "embrace innovation".

I tried something different than the first version. Same colour scheme and same font.
The tagline is not part of the logo! It's something the client just wants to have.

I looked up some logo guidelines. If you put it in black & white, it would show quite the same. The colours don't add any effect, which was the case in the first version.
It's also more scalable and usable (more handy to use than first version and less "lost space").

The logo is "part" of the company's name, but the name doesn't have to be "part" of the logo, if you know what I mean.

Hmm i would say, work on your previous logo a bit more, because i see real opportunities in that one, more then this one. This one is not special enough the symbol does not ad much feeling and with the font the hole logo ends up in the background.

colours are oke tough!

True, the name of the company is really the focus in this one. Is it a bad font also?

well the font is "OK" but thats it. It does not give the logo any character. And the logo needs some character otherwise is it one out of a thousand.

There's nothing wrong with either font, they just don't work well with each other or the symbol. I would, however avoid using multiple font styles. That's a big design sin.

Try utilizing your diamond shapes to relate more with the text. For instance, as I'm attempting to find a solution between your text here and the diamond, I keep finding "E" shapes between the diamond shapes in the negative space. I'm sure if you worked at it enough, you could possibly find a clever relation between the two. Just a thought.

Thumbs up for everything except the idea, because I think the pieces are there. It's just a matter of putting them together.

Sure all the pieces are there to make a reasonable logo, but look at the first version so much potation to make a very special one!

I think the word you're looking for is "potential."

I've seen the first logo. My opinion is that this one already shows a stronger idea. That idea simply needs to be further explored. The first one to me looks more like box art than a logo, hence why it was thought to be using too much vertical negative space.

The thing is, a logo should stand alone as a mark with typography, and not encapsulated in a large rectangle. I appreciate the diamond shapes in that logo, and perhaps it could merge with some of the elements in this design. But I am not a fan of a giant closed box the way the first one was designed, and there is more promise with this approach.

To elaborate, perhaps the two diamond shapes could provide an imaginary, implied box by arranging them on the top and bottom of the text. Not sure. The artist will have to experiment and decide on a third solution.
