Logo Mugwithglasses (v3)

Brief from client

This will be use as my personal logo. I think it suits my personality so I really want to use a mug wearing glasses.

I have worked on the typo as I think the pictogram is already ok.

Colud you please tell me what do you think about it?

Thanks

I like that the fonts do not seem stretched now,
I agree i think your "pictogram" is already ok

I like the colors, version 2 colors were good as well.

What about creating some unity between type and image. Maybe the "with" and the glasses the same tone? I think it'd make it a little more eye catching and not so newspaper toned.... like the idea tho

Hi ChuckyKevinBourn,

Thanks for your review, I´m sure that one of the previous versions was as you said, but I don´t know why I took it out, because the result was nice.

I will work on in.

Cheers.

I dunno, I'm still not feeling it.
The semi-scripty font doesn't say web design at all to me. I'd go with a modern sans serif font.
I also don't like the mug illustration, specifically the line quality. The uneven line widths almost look like you took a jpeg and put it in livetrace, which is a big design faux pas.
For a web design company, you'll want to be fresh, clean, and modern, and this logo doesn't say any of that to me.
Sorry! Maybe do some more research and try again.

Hi jtrumm,

Thanks for your review.

I have tried some modern sans serif fonts as you said but I didn´t quite like the result, don´t take my wrong, you are right in that it looks more like a web design company, but, is that what I want or I want to look different? Honestly, I think that I´ll prefer to look different but I´ll give a second thought.

Again, I`m not sure if I´m agree with you on the mug illustration, but I will give it some more work, probably you are right.

I would like to point out that this is not for a web design company, rather for a personal image, I mean, I´m not a company but a freelancer, so I thought the logo should represent my personality. Am I wrong?

Thanks again for your review, I will work on what you told me, I´m sure I´ll learn something new.

A sanserif doesn't necessarily have to be boring an just like everybody else. When designing logos, it's always a good idea to modify and adjust the typography to make it your own, to add interest. If done right, it will help your logo succeed. Right now you're choosing an ugly (for lack of a better word) and dated font over quality.

It doesn't really matter if your logo is for personal use or a mega corporation, you'll need a good logo to make people thing you're legit. Your logo idea (mug wearing glasses) is already pretty unique and YOU. You don't need to cheapen it with squiggly lines and bad text.

Thanks for taking critiques and working on your logo! I don't mean to be mean :)

It's slightly better but you're not there yet.

Looks like you still have a lot to learn about fonts. Here are a few sites for you to peruse:

www.losttype.com : lots of cool professional grade free fonts, thought you tend to see them everywhere, so be careful.

www.fontsinuse.com : plenty of examples of good uses of types.

www.typophile.com : a great forum about everything fonts.

Inspiration wise, check out these ones: www.logopond.com www.dribbble.com www.fromupnorth.com and get a Pinterest account.

Hope that helps.

Good luck!

I like the idea, very smart, and makes it stands out from the crowd, originality wise is really great. Great job.

as for the symbol, the diameter of the cup reminded me of a tin cup (See the attachment) A tin cup usually has a wider diameter, try make it smaller and taller. To put a sense of thickness, maybe you can add some details, like the inner shadow of the mug rim, so give it a sense of thickness of the rim, doesn't make it looks like a tin cup. The mug ear/holder has that sense, but as for the body it does not. Maybe you can try it, it worth a shot.

As for the typography, I don't wanna sound like as if I am an expert, which I am not. It's a matter of preference, but I don't like the typeface/font, it seems too crowded, and too thin, with the additional, you don't give a space in between word, it makes it crowded and hard to read.

Which comes to the color, I really don't think using gray on that already crowded and cramped lettering is such a good idea. You can maybe try darker gray like 80-90% black, if you really want it to be gray. But lighter gray does not actually help your branding visibility. I remember back in my college years, when my professor told us to print out the graphic on a Letter size paper (Or just view it full screen on your Monitor), and stood about 5-15 meters away from from the graphic, and from there you can determine the visibility.

Hope this help.

I hope this helps you a bit, I pulled it out from Google, but maybe you can have some better Idea.

Thank you JoSetio,

I think you are right about the mug shape, the mug I use is like the one I drow but that doesn´t matter, if people don´t see a cup a first sight who cares what I´m using?

I will be back on monday, and start to work again.
