Brief from client
Hi there.
I've been commissioned by one of my clients, a big corporate company, to create a logo for their annual international market leaders workshop.
The main part of the brief was to depict in some way the 7 branches that make the company. It should also depict the idea of growth and dynamism.
The client didn't like the lion concept (while all his colleagues did! =) and insisted every 7 branches of the company be clearly identifiable in the logo.
So since incorporating 7 pictograms would make for a complex logo, I just went full ahead with that idea. It's a corporate event, limited in time and scope, so high complexity isn't as much as a problem it would be if it was a regular public brand.
That being said, I made a few simplified versions since I don't know the range of mediums the logo will be used in.
So yeah, it's filled with bits and bobs, it's nowhere near simple, at least of the fully developed version, it's miles away from what I usually recommend on this here site but fuck it, I like it and as it turns out, the client seems to do too =)
Tell me what you guys things, there's always room for improvement.
FYI, the 7 branches are oil & gaz, power & utilities, chemicals, manufacturing of industrial goods, transport aero-rail, construction & civil work, food & agri. Sexy.

And here are the simplified iterations.
I like the simplified version with the 7 icons. I don't see it as mutually exclusive from the complex version. I would use the simplified version on the sleeve of a t-shirt and the complex version on the back, for example. Or the complex version on a folder, but the simplified version on letterhead/marketing materials. I think it works!
But... But... the lion...
Something happened in the jungle, the mighty jungle...
HAHAHAHA!!! I loved the lion too.
Too soon.
On that note, I actually like this logo. Especially the simplified version.
Yes, it is complex as all heck, but it has an organized structure, isn't overlapping, and gives you something to play eye spy with while you are waiting for the meetings to start. :)
You went into industrial direction with your pictograms , wich is fine in my opinion.
Have you thought of a layout with 7 pictograms shaping into a 7?
No, because seven isn't the focus here. It's just the number of branches but that's it. But thanks for the input =)
Since this is event based I agree that it gives you more flexibility with complexity. That said, I think you've done a great job of diminishing some of the burdens of complexity through the visual hierarchy achieved through the subtle gray details versus the blue used for the items of importance. Kudos for planning out the multiple tiers of less complicated versions. As for a "logo," I like the lion you were working on, but for a workshop, I actually think this is more applicable. Nice work, man!
Wowzers!!!! i fricken love this! this is right up my street! Reminds me a bit of the incredible Joe White.
I have nothing else to add - Amazing!
:)
Thanks mate. I only wish I could do anything as glorious as what Joe White does.
Hahaha dont we all?!?!
The moment I saw it I thought (Shawali).
This is brilliant. I like how it is so detailed and full of items, yet my eyes only focuses on the highlighted items. Nice job on the pictograms. Some of the lines (under the truck) I think can be simpler.
I love it.
Chokran Mohannad !
Fantastic work my friend. =)
Cheers mate!
