Brief from client
Looking for a new logo and threw this together after some sketches. I'm confused if this is a workable option or if I should go back to the drawing board

As the designer you shouldn't be confused as to whether or not this works. Please don't take that as a personal criticism, a designer is their own worst client. Try to view this objectively, how would you sell it to a client or reject it.
Personally I think it's working, I'm on the fence about the font but it does fit nicely with the symbol and think the background is distracting a solid color would be better. Over all I'd say you are almost there, right now it's just a little generic for me, but it has to represent your design esthetic.
Can you suggest a better free font, I really cannot afford to pay $100+ for one atm
I like the symbol but hate the background. Would look so much better with a clean bg
