Specialty coffee brand - Grassroots coffee

Brief from client
Logo design for a specialty coffee brand with its focus on sustainability and support of coffee-producing countries.
The client wanted the brand to be recognized as specialty coffee and have an aspect which implied sustainability or environmental friendliness.
The logo will also be used at various sizes on different medias

Here is version 2 of the design for grassroots coffee.
I have decided to forgo the logo altogether as it seemed too much for a company who wanted a clean, design.
I have adjusted the typography to create a more trendy vibe and incorporated both the specialty coffee and sustainability philosophies into the name itself.

Now that's slick.
My only gripe with this is widening the G. Screwing with letters like that in typography is really frowned upon. There really doesn't seem to be any reason to do it here, so I would go a different route there.
Does anyone else feel that the subtext should be a slightly different font? It seems a tad redundant. Maybe it's just me.
Anyways, good improvement.
Thanks for the input. The G itself is meant to symbolise a coffee bean but perhaps I widened it a bit too much.
Totally agree with the subtext, i've made some changes based on some other feedback i've received . I hope it's not two steps back. In hindsight, are the roots just too much?
Without the roots it was better.
Lose the roots. Keep it simple.
I see the coffee bean now, so I understand the reasoning behind it. Again, keep it simple. Be careful not to add many hidden symbols in your text. I think the leaf on the T is nice, but maybe you can work to make the G more like a bean, but maintain form consistency with the rest of the word.
I agree with Killswitch, I think you should try a different font for the subtext.
Other than that I see that the leaf that has the "t" is rustic must make some adjustments there, but it's a big change compared to the previous.
