Brief from client
Current restaurant brand is of a compass and script font, but it's not a seafood place. New owners are looking for something more contemporary and less blue plate special looking.

I think the Idea and the Symbol are really doing the job, but the color combination is not working for me. BTW good use of negative space.!!
I think you have a good idea here.
The 2 fonts you have chosen do not work together to well, try keeping the fonts for this logo in a sans serif.
Also think about how you are going to be able to read your logo at an inch tall.
Brown and blue could work for this, I think you need to pick more complimentary shades though.

In both versions, the kerning between the "W" and "e" in West could use some more attention.
