Print 1 Circa 1990

Brief from client

Version 1 is the logo of my current employer. Created back in 1990. The company is a small commercial printing company. We would love to get some feed back on it.

Versions 2 - 4 are failed attempts at a redesign.

I agree, it is simple enough as it is but just needs some minor adjustments. good job so far with the improvements.

I don't find this very pleasing to look at..or see an idea behind it.

If you decide to keep it-- I might flip the shape with the point in the bottom left. It would compliment the shape of the "P" better.

I would take the text out of the symbol altogether. If there isn't a reason to have flipped around, why do it? It just makes it harder to read.

The colors work for what it is. As long as the design works without a rainbow, it's all good.

Instead of designing around the "P"- you may want to design around "1"- to keep the continuity of the last logo.

OK, like they say - a road to hell is paved with good intentions.
I can understand your motivation to do something to help your employer to get a good logo but... the question is, do you want me to 'beat around the bush' or not?

If the answer is yes, then I will say - this could probably work with some tweaking and better execution.

If the answer is no, then I will say - there is no good creative idea here and your logo lacks key ingredients for a memorable design. Grab some books on logo design and study.
