Brief from client
We want a logo with a subtle vintage feel to it that pays homage to the nature and the animals.
2-colored logo.
SPOILER ALERT: There's a head of a dog/wolf in the negative space.
Nice! I didn't see your dog/wolf immediately, but my first thought was that there had to be something doggy hidden in their somewhere... and there he was! I think you've got a good balance between hidden and obvious there.
Maybe try varying the trees a little bit, they look a little copied and pasted.
The hair on the back of the dog's neck bothers me too. Maybe try smoothing it out? It looks like the dog's hair is going backwards.
Thank you Jtrumm, I will change the trees and make the more random.
First I had the mountain without the 'hairs', so completely smooth. But that didn't work well so I created the 'hairs'.
It's true that the 'hairs' are running backwards. The only problem is that it wouldn't look natural for the mountain if the 'hairs' were running like normal hairs.
But you're right, I will have a look.
First, I fear that all these small details in the mountains and the pointy trees will be lost a create some kind of mess when the logo is reduced and when it's sawn.
Second, I think, but it may be only me, that the dog thing is way too subtle. When I first saw it, I thought it was a brand like Patagonia or The North Face. I had to read the baseline to get what it's about.
Anyway, good job, I particularly love the font work.
Thank you for your insight Shawali. I will try to make the head of the dog more obvious.
To answer your first thought, you have a point. My logo's are mostly simplistic without many details. Now, I chose to make the logo more detailed as many vintage logo's had small details. For small sizes the typo alone would do the job, IMHO.
The labels on the products will be pretty big though (not a standard size, think of it like http://www.pinterest.com/pin/202169470746379812/), so a more detailed logo shouldn't be a problem.
BTW, Apple hasn't a great logo either if you look solely of what there's pictured. ;)

Mockup on a printed label.
This looks really awesome but what's up with the shadow of the symbol on the right side?
Thank you!
It's not really a shadow, it's more of a swash of a brush. But i'll have a look.

Looks really goof.
Two things though.
