I agree with JMG3, although I feel like this still needs something. The Black typeface on a Green background starts to lose interest for me quickly. Maybe add a white stroke to the stars or font to make it pop a bit more. While I like the other designs just as much, I also think (in agreement with JMG3) that this is best for the audience you are designing for.

Ok, this is looking pretty good so far but I can't help but thing it's not totally finished yet.

I find there are too many pointy angles and edges, for starter. See what happen if you soften them up (on Illustrator object/path/outline path/joins : round)

Maybe a little touch of grit is lacking here. It's just me, but I think it could go ell with that style of logo.

The subtext deserves to be bolder. Right now it's being a bit overwhelmed by the wordmark.

One last thing I would try, is to tweak the crossbar of the Rs and the K in a manner that the form a ascending line when put next to each other, if you see what I mean.

What is the font your used for RRK?

Anyway, good job, it's just needs a little bit more work to be real good.

Completely agreed on not looking finished. Every-time I look at this logo it seems off. It was abandoned after I hit this point because he wanted to see some other designs. But, this was the one he liked the most of the 3. He just wants to see some more work done to it and possibly different typefaces.

I like the idea of putting some distressed look on it. I will definitely play around with that.

The font used for RRK is 'CC Phases on Stun Medium' and the subtext is 'DINEngschrift'. I really like the DINEngschrift font, has an outdoors/camping feel to it.

Thanks for the input though!! And I really need more work on my typography. Can you recommend any help for that?

Build your knowledge of typography. Check out www.typophile.com, a great forum, especially the ID threads. www.fontsinuse.com is pretty cool too.

Stay away from DaFont. For every decent and barely usable type, there are a hundred shitty ones.

To find and install really cool and professional looking free fonts, there's always www.losttype.com www.fontsquirrel.com and some others. You also have www.tendollarfonts.com for unexpensive nice types. If you have the budget you can buy more expensive fonts on www.myfonts.com

The bottom line is, always keep an eye open for fonts. Everywhere, in the street, in a magazine, in a brochure... When you find one and wants to know how it's called, take a picture and post on typophile. Really simple and useful.

Hope that helps! Good luck.
