The New South Wales Scale Aircraft Society
Brief from client
The brief was to give a more modern look to their current logo, which was looking a bit old and amateurish. The club is having a new website designed for them and so the logo was a necessary part of the upgrade.

Hi all. Well, I presented the last version of the logo to the club, but there were a lot of people not happy with it. Most said that the "NSW" text was too big, and it overshadowed the "Scale Aircraft Society", which is the main information needed. I agreed with most of their comments. I decided to take some of their ideas on board and come up with a new design that incorporated some of the elements of the original logo, with the addition of an aircraft motif to highlight the activities associated with the club. The particular aircraft I have chosen was actually manufactured in New South Wales, and is a very popular aircraft amongst scale model enthusiasts, so I thought it quite fitting. I have still kept the map outline of New South Wales, which to anyone in Australia will be quite obvious. I guess without the "NSW" text it is a little more subtle, but most people outside Australia wouldn't know what NSW means anyway. The logo would most probably be coupled with the full name of the club in most applications anyway. What do you think?

Nice!
Congrats. Much better.
Agree with the NSW comments. This logo is more informative of the organization.
nice, i like the airplane.
Better than the previous versions.
I don't know much about airplanes, but this aircraft have jet propulsion? If it's not where are those propellers? And I think the airplane have too much details.
I think you should complete the state's outline on the left.
Hi kisspolo, thanks for your comments. Yes, it is a propeller driven aircraft, however I think adding the propellers will overcomplicate the design. Also, the aircraft is meant to be flying, hence you would not really see the propellers as they are spinning too fast. I guess I could represent them with a broken line circle? i will have a play with it.
Also, regarding the extra line to complete the state's outline, I did play with this too, but I thought it looked better without. I might post a couple more options to see what others think.
You have right about the porps :) I think the circles will works.
Like!!!!!
Thanks to all for your comments. I really like it too. I have tossed around a two colour design, with either Red or Yellow text, but I'm not sure it is necessary.
I like it very much, good job. I like the typeface, but i will move a little bit "E" to right (in SCALE), so the "L" will be more visible. I also agree with kisspolo, try to work with plane, it have too much details.
