Recovery Africa Logo

Brief from client

We are a very small nonprofit working on alcohol and recovery activities in Ghana, West Africa. I do all the communication for the organization, including trying to create our logo. We are a U.S. based organization, which is registered as a 501(c)3 in Ghana. In the U.S. we are affiliated under a recovery-based umbrella nonprofit. BTW the colours in the logo on this site appear a lot brighter. We plan on expanding to more countries, hence the use of 'Africa'. Thank you for any feedback.

I don't think it works again,
Here is my quick idea?

Thanks for the feedback. The colours on your logo are reminiscent of the colours on the Ghanaian flag (actually many countries on the continent have those colours in their flag). I will work on it some more!

This whole thing looks like it was done by a 10 years old kid in the school drawing class. Terrible typography (don't even hope that you will correct that based on comments, you need a few years in some art school for that). The Africa map forced into the letter a is just unnatural and ugly. The colors don't work either. I think you should really give up on this and hire a designer.

extremely basic and lacks all kinds of creativity.

I like monito's design. Putting the map in the letter is a great idea, but the font is way too basic (Helvetica?). Stick with sans serif, but move away from the fonts that come with Microsoft Office. Check dafont.com for plenty of free font ideas.
