Recovery Africa Logo

Brief from client

We are a very small nonprofit working on alcohol and recovery activities in Ghana, West Africa. I do all the communication for the organization, including trying to create our logo. We are a U.S. based organization, which is registered as a 501(c)3 in Ghana. In the U.S. we are affiliated under a recovery-based umbrella nonprofit. BTW the colours in the logo on this site appear a lot brighter. We plan on expanding to more countries, hence the use of 'Africa'. Thank you for any feedback.

This font is a joke and it's not possible to integrate a face into the letter I this way. Green and red don't work with eachother either.

I don't like this logo either (sorry!) but I completely, adamantly disagree about red and green not working with each other. They totally work together, depending on the values you use. (In fact, it's one of my favorite color combos. It's not just for xmas!)

Green and red colors compete when they’re placed next to each other. They are complementary colors, which means they are on the opposites sides of the color wheel. Green and red and other complimentary colors flow and blend into each other. When they’re together, they tend to make each other brighter by competing for the foreground. This means that there is low color contrast between them, which is not ideal if you’re trying to contrast elements.

Try to wear a red jacket with a green skirt and you will look like a parrot.

Gee thanks, until you wrote all of that down I had NO idea what complimentary colors are! (That was dripping with sarcasm, just in case that wasn't clear.)

Dude, I know how the color wheel works, I know that green and red and complimentary (note the correct spelling) colors, but my point remains the same despite your attempt at claiming I'm wrong. I love red and green together and they most certainly CAN/DO work together in some situations. This logo just happens to NOT be one of them.

Thank you for your time- I'm here all week! ;)

Well, before you kill me, I thought telling about complementary (check the correct spelling before being so sarcastic http://thesaurus.com/browse/complementary?s=t) colors might help the "designer" of that logo. It wasn't really meant for you – altough I posted it in reply to your message – I kinda knew you were aware of complementary colors (even if you don't know how to spell it). What I meant for you was the comment about dressing up in these colors because if you like the combination I can imagine you use it too:) And yes, you might be right, green and red can work together....at Christmas.

Oh oscar, I'm not here to kill anyone! And I TOTALLY thought it was complimentary!!! I've been out of design school for two damn years now, thinking I was spelling that correctly the whole time!! (Granted, I don't write that word down very often.) So thank you for pointing that out. But as for red and green (NOT just for xmas, oscar!) we'll just have to agree to disagree. :)

Colors and letters does not match the theme, the face was to be black and also was to have colors that represents to drought and famine that is already to save africa, has to be impactful color and font that is my opinion ! ^ ^
