Brief from client
I am a freelance graphic designer & want to re-brand myself (original logo that I used for 3 years is very girly). I liked the idea of CMYK, but know that it's really overused. Because 2 of my initials are C & M I thought I may be able to get away with it. What do you think?
This logo is for my freelance graphic design... I originally wanted to do CMYK colors b/c I had an "M" & a "C" & thought I could get away with it. Then I noticed it was super overdone & there was nothing unique about it. Now I changed the colors & there doesn't seem to be anything unique about this version.
I do like the simplicity though... what are your thoughts?

"Designs " is really really too small maybe you should sketch before typinf thing in the computer and change colors and overlap letters.
REally start sketching (in paper would be better so you start with afresh white sheet of paper).
My only qualm with this version that I didn't have with the first one is the colors; they're much too dull and defeat the purpose of the CMYK concept. Stick with Version 1 since it stands out more and stays true to your concept. It will look much better in print and online.
I liked this logo at first look, but the way "design" is placed ruins everything.
Also, it'd feels more right for a trendy TV channel rather than a personal logo.
You have to think about how it'll behave in black and white. Not sure the CMYK idea (so old!!) and the overlapping thing will be very practical.
I think your version one colors were better and yes i think the "designs" should come out from inside the "M" and maybe kern to stretch below all three logos and maybe try it flat with out overlapping letter
