logo for a industrial designer

Brief from client
as a 1st year industrial design student, I thought I'd make a logo for myself. My knowledge of illustrator is gained through self-learning and internet tutorials, please leave hints&tips to make a better logo
after some sketches, as recommended, I am trying to work the first idea's out. it turned out that the whole low poly thing was just too complex. so i kicked in a completely different door into simple geometric forms and adapted fonts. still not sure about the colour of the grey (maybe a bit lighter???) I like the purple in it because purple represents creativity
