Brief from client
as a 1st year industrial design student, I thought I'd make a logo for myself. My knowledge of illustrator is gained through self-learning and internet tutorials, please leave hints&tips to make a better logo

Yes much better. But i just gotta ask, do you like it yourself now? This is a huge change and step in the other direction then your initial logo. Good job nonetheless.
I do like the connection between the initials, in the first version the only connection was that orange square. also I like the kind of futuristic??? bars over the initials in combination with the font, still thinking of making the grey somewhat lighter because it now looks darker with the storke
I don't think you could go wrong with making the gray a few tints lighter. Keep experimenting and adjusting until you feel its right.
I'm also still working on the other ideas to see how they turn out, I think I'll make another critique logo out of the first of them, and then post all of them there. thanks for the support on this one, and I hope to have the honour of you commenting on them too
I'm not sure I like how different the M is from the W. I feel as though they should relect each other.
Here's a quick example of how I was envisioning what I would do, rather than try and explain it.
I'm not sure if people make all these versions because they like the original idea or because they just see how much of an effort I'm making to make this thing real!!! I get the whole idea of reflection, and it's a nice way to make the logo more consistent, but at the same moment I'm struggling with the spacing within the circle with this idea.
don't get me wrong here, I like the feedback and the idea. the m and w reflecting each other with the name in between gives a more connected feeling between those 3 elements. but i don't like how the m and w are now so close to the edge of the circle.
as a solution to this i would suppose to reflect the m under the name in the horizontal center of the circle and make the reflection somewhat faded into the grey...not sure if it'll work though but I'll try my best.
